Erratzu Route

The Erratzu – Baztan ridges and high pastures Route is a mid-mountain route that allows you to discover the most open and panoramic side of the valley, leaving the forests behind to explore gentle ridges, high pastures and traditional livestock areas.

The route starts in Erratzu and gradually ascends towards the higher areas surrounding the valley, where the landscape transforms into wide green pastures historically used for grazing. From these elevated points, you can enjoy privileged views of the Baztan Valley, with a sense of openness and direct contact with nature.

Along the route, it is common to find shepherd huts, stone enclosures and livestock, reflecting an ancestral activity that has shaped the landscape. The route combines sections of moderate ascent with gentler areas, inviting you to walk at a relaxed pace and enjoy the surroundings, the silence and the horizon.

It is an ideal option for hikers looking for a more mountain-oriented experience, without being technical, and who want to discover the high landscapes that give character to the Baztan.
