Baztan Museums

History, traditions and cultural heritage of Baztan

Discover the history of its inhabitants

Places such as the Ethnographic Museum of Elizondo, the Witches’ Museum of Zugarramurdi or the Archaeological Centre of Amaiur show how life in the valley has evolved over the centuries.

Through exhibitions, historical objects and stories linked to the territory, visitors can discover everything from ancient beliefs and legends to the traditional ways of life of its inhabitants.

Witches’ Museum

The Witches’ Museum in Zugarramurdi explores one of the most well-known and darkest episodes in the history of the Baztan area. It presents, in an educational way, the real history of the inquisitorial trials, distinguishing it from popular legends about witchcraft. Panels, audiovisual materials and interpretive resources help visitors understand the historical, social and cultural context of those events.
