Zugarramurdi Caves

The famous witches’ caves, linked to legends of witch gatherings and sorcery. A visit that combines nature, history and local myths.

A place where nature, history and legend blend in a unique way.
The Zugarramurdi Caves, known as the Witches’ Cave, are an impressive karst complex carved by the Olabidea River. Beyond their natural beauty, this site is famous for the witch gatherings and the Inquisition trials of the 17th century that marked the history of the valley.

Walking through its open-air galleries is a magical experience: enormous natural vaults, the sound of water, moss, and an atmosphere that connects directly with Basque mythology. A perfect plan to combine nature, culture and mystery, ideal to visit with family or as a couple.

We recommend combining the visit with the Witches’ Museum and a walk through the village of Zugarramurdi.
